Dogies Fall to Southeast
Newcastle Dogie Football dropped a 33-0 decision to Southeast at Schoonmaker Field on September 4. 5 turnovers hurt the Dogies, and Southeast quarterback Colby Sturgeon passed for two touchdowns and ran for another.
Newcastle is 1-1 and will open 2A East play on Saturday, September 12 in Moorcroft against the Wolves. Hear it at 12:20 PM (MDT) here online or on AM 1240 KASL.
Volleyball Coming Tuesday
Newcastle Lady Dogie volleyball will play in Wright against the Lady Panthers on Tuesday. Hear it here online or on AM 1240 KASL at 6:00 PM (MDT).
The Lady Dogies made the semifinals of the Douglas Invitational on Saturday before falling to the eventual tournament winner, Buffalo.
Dogies Win Season-Opening Thriller
Newcastle quarterback Trey Sylte scored a touchdown, then a surprise two-point conversion in the second overtime on Friday in the Dogies' 15-14 win over Custer. Jeremy Beehler ran for the Dogies' other touchdown and for 196 yards on 28 carries.
Newcastle won a season opener for the first time since 2001 and defeated Custer for the first time since 1991.
On Friday, the Dogies will host three-time defending 1A champion Southeast at Schoonmaker Field. Hear the action at 6:20 PM (MDT) here online or on AM 1240 KASL.
Dogie Football Opens Season Soon
The 2009 Newcastle Dogie football season will open on Friday, August 28 at Schoonmaker Field in Newcastle when the Dogies host Custer. This will mark the debut for Matt Conzelman as Dogies' head coach. Hear Dogie football all season on AM 1240 KASL and here online. Broadcast and webcast time for the opener on August 28 will be 6:20 PM (MDT).
Powell Ends Dogies' Season
Newcastle lost a 12-point second half lead and the game to Powell in a 3A Boys' Consolation Semifinal game in Casper, 57-55. Newcastle's season ends at 14-14.
